Rosie And The Thorns

Rosie and The Thorns Debut album released October 2009
Mixmasters Records

As the only girl in cult surf band The Val Dusty Experiment, Rosie Sutherland provided a sweetness to their raw folk-rock sound. Now she has her own band Rosie and The Thorns based halfway between Sydney and
Brisbane, and her own distinctive style is coming to the fore. You might almost get their sound if Lucinda
Williams sang with Band of Horses or Beth Orton fronted Crowded House. Rosie carves her own rock
territory with ringing melodies and addictive choruses.

Rosie and The Thorns’ debut album was recorded by Mick Wordley (Mixmasters - Jeff Lang, Delightful
Rain) and his mobile studio in a mud-brick home on the NSW North Coast over three summer days. With
eleven original songs and one tender Beach Boys cover, this is a confident debut from the first note. The
album is out now on the Mixmasters Records label with selected songs and the first two music videos
online now at www.rosieandthethorns.com

Rosie and The Thorns have been receiving airplay on ABC Local Radio, Tamworth 2YouFM & Festival
FM, a variety of Australian community radio stations including FBi, 2BBB, 2NVR and also featured on
Doug Lang's Roots/Folk/Americana program 'Better Days' CFRO Vancouver, Canada. Rosie was invited to
be a guest vocalist for The Brown Birds from Windy Hill at the 2008 Splendour in the Grass

Songs to note:
Track 3 Crazy Talk – Title track
Track 5 Breakdown (Note to Self) – Quirky dark pop à la Leonard Cohen
Track 12 I Get Around/Sweet Dreams – Beach Boys cover flows into sweet original
